About Us

Hi!  We are Tim and Beth Sheets, the owners of Heritage Farm Suri Alpacas.  Our alpaca farm was founded in October 2003 with the purchase of our first suri alpaca, Eliza. Since then, we have seen our herd grow to 15 with the purchase of 7 more and the birth of 8 on our farm.

Both of us grew up on farms and pursued professional careers after graduating from college in the early 80's. We lived in Indianapolis for a number of years but longed for a country lifestyle. In the late 90's we had an opportunity to move to the central Indiana farm where Beth was raised. While this was very inviting from a lifestyle point of view, realistically, we needed to discover a means of justifyng our lifestyle change.  In other words, we wanted to do something productive with this farm we were blessed with.  Tim researched a number of livestock possibilities, from hereford cattle to boer goats to rare breeds.  While all of these are wonderful animals, we discovered that none of them had the profit potential of alpacas.  The next step was to visit several farms, attend some shows and talk to a lot of alpaca people.  After all research was done, we were convinced.  Alpacas were for us!

Even though we started our farm after our two kids were attending college, both our daughter Jennifer and son Michael have been active participants in our venture.  They attend shows and events to help groom the alpacas and answer questions.  Michael is a great at building fences and general maintenance around the farm.  Jennifer started vet school in 2006 so we're hoping for an expert health care provider in the family.  Even Beth's mother, Nelda, is involved.  She enjoys all of the alpacas and has taken some of them to schools and nursing homes to provide a bit of joy and comfort to the young and old.  Alpacas are really a family affair at Heritage farm.
